I've always noticed patterns and liked math. It is a good thing because my eldest son is a mathaholic. He sees all of life through math, so he can be hard for normal people to understand. His brain thinks like a computer, pure logic and no understanding of figurative language. Because of his unique way of looking at the world, he can see things that others cannot or come to some unique conclusions. I love my son.

my own special ability is to be able to recognise analog things, to notice when an aspect of a pattern matches another one, it's a critical skill to being able to write algorithms, these patterns are like an invisible skin around everything, so many layers if you just look
it's not as formal and rigorous in the way it works for me but i have helped people probably hundreds of times because i can see one of these "abstractions" in their problem that lets them link it to some sense of understanding or competence or dissolved a block they were having
and it most certainly keeps me in awe, pretty regularly, at the amazing creation He made for us
today i finally figured out some odd things i was seeing on the surface of the ocean were a huge crowd of dolphins
couldn't really see them, just their wash and sometimes the shadow of their bodies moving under the water
rarely a week goes by without one of these gifts falling on me
