Alright, so here’s the crazy shit I’ve been dealing with for the past couple of days…

If any of you use temp-number.org, a fair warning: either don’t pay it with crypto or just don’t use it at all.

Last year, I deposited $5 into my account balance for that service. I used Monero, because their old payment processor accepted that. I think it was Coinbase? But don’t take my word for it because I do not remember. Just know that their crypto payments used to work, and rather painlessly too.

But one year later, they’ve changed their crypto payment processor to 0xprocessing… I have never heard of this but upon first experience they seem sus and scammy. First of all they do not accept XMR. :awoo_angry2:

So I was trying to reload my funds again with crypto on Temp Number, and the minimum funds deposit was now $25 for the new service. I went to exchange some XMR –> BTC, around $30 to fight the extra fees just in case. Well, not only was that not enough for them, I ended up not using their service anyway at the end, so the trading ended up being pointless. 😂 Why?

Upon selecting the minimum amount ($25), 0xprocessing will actually bring you to an error page saying that the minimum amount is actually 0.00082000 BTC, or, around $35. False advertising kinda but I just assumed that this was an innocent mistake on the merchant’s end, so I kindly told Temp Number that they should re-adjust their set minimum. Their reply is “Sorry, we use 3rd party crypto billing and we unable to change the price or minimal amount”. Okay, well, whatever. $35 minimum is fine too. But this time I actually got curious - I figured that I shouldn’t trade for more BTC just yet.

I input the minimum of $35, or 0.00082000 BTC to the service, juuuust to see if it would work. 0xprocessing now charges me for a whopping $59 as my final price. What. Da. Fuck. It went from $25 (false advertising), to $35 as the real minimum input, to $59 as the final checkout price. This is literally a scam. :lain_sad: I messaged the support desk again about their crypto processor demanding absurd prices than what they are actually shown. The agent replied “Please select $40” which doesn’t mean anything because no one’s gonna pay $63 to deposit $40 of tangible funds. :reimu_sigh: He also said to use another crypto, like USDT. Uhh, no, I think I’m just done here lol. 😂

Just use sms4sats.

XMR/LN-BTC swaps as necessary.

It doesn't say BTC it says SATS I don't know what that is... Do I have to install and generate a brand new wallet for this? Is it bitcoin or is it a different crypto?

Sats are another way of counting your amount of Bitcoin aside from the standard numerical amounts, especially as it pertains to Lightning payments.

Say for example you're buying something worth a certain amount in a respective currency (varies from country to country, along with its "worth"); if the amount in Bitcoin is 0.0051239, it would be the same when counting satoshis (51,239 sats).

TL;DR, satoshis are just an easier method of referring to Bitcoin amounts.
