Reports of a possible active shooter on the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Discussion
Sources at the Naval Academy say the suspected shooter is a former Midshipman who had been removed from the school and was seen earlier on campus disguised as a police officer and carrying a weapon. Local and military police are searching the grounds, while students and staff remain under shelter-in-place orders until further notice.

In an email to staff, U.S. Naval Academy Deputy Commandant Capt. David S. Forman said it appears a Midshipman mistakenly perceived law enforcement as a threat during reports of a possible active shooter and opened fire, leading to his own injury. The Midshipman, who is now in stable condition, is believed to be the individual seen being medevac’d earlier near Bancroft Hall. It remains unclear what prompted initial reports from authorities of additional injuries or gunfire before the incident involving the wounded Midshipman.
