Sooo, i use to work in credit repair and one of the absolute easiest things to get rid of were medical collections, and that without having to pay them.
If you signed a contract with a hospital, that contract doesnt transfer when they sell the debt off to collections. The hospital writes off the loss, and the collection company buys it for pennies on the dollar. You dont have a contract with xyz collection company, thus you dont have to pay them, and you cant pay the hospital cause they already wrote it off.
It gets worse though, cause for the hospital to get your info to the collection company, they violated your HIPAA. You can send letters to the credit bureaus stating that you didnt have a contract, that they violated your doctor patient confidentiallity, and they will remove it from your report for you without you having to pay it.
One of my clients had millions of dollars removed from their reports that came from their daughters cancer treatments.
