Seems smarter than having radioactive waste dumps that need to be stored for thousands to millions of years depending on the isotope. That alone seems to make clean coal the more logical conclusion, but I don't know enough to really make a scientifically and economically backed statement.

I think geography plays a crucial part. Nuclear Energy situated like Fukushima seems retarded (backup generators below sea level, earthquake prone country).
