Kraken was my first experience with an exchange. It was there that I bought my first sats (and unfortunately my first shitcoins as well) and that I discovered the world of cryptocurrency in general.

Since Jesse stepped down it has been nothing but downfall for once such a great company.

They recently made a "strategic partnership" in Germany which basically meant re-doing a new KYC process with even more details needeed. That was it for me, since then I switched to nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 and haven't looked back.
