Depending on what statistics you believe, iPhones are about 50% of the US phone market and 50%-60% of the global β€œpremium” phone market.

Since Apple outlawed zaps on Damus, my anecdotal data shows my zaps down by 90% or so. This is on random notes and on response to release of episodes of my podcast Bitcoin Alchemy. Boosts and sat streaming is down also.

I have an iPhone and Android sharing the same number and can flip back and forth. Amethyst and Onyx work well and there is Iris, Plebster and more. Snort and Primal work well on mobile too.

So my question is this: Are my zaps down because my content now sucks or were Damus users sending a majority of the zaps? If Apple can change the behavior of the entire ecosystem, then that is very depressing.

🀣 Maybe I have my answer.

LOL. Historians will laugh.

It seems to me there are a LOT of Bitcoin "plebs" on iPhones, and Damus is the defacto Nostr client. I am all for free choice, though I see this choice as odd, honestly. Apple is about as anti-freedom as a company can get. Arguably it's success rests on choices they have made here. And it has far reaching tentacles. What you mention here is possibly one of them.

In the end this platform and bitcoin are going to force them to change. Yay. Hope your zaps go back up sir. I'll send one for good luck,

Zapped - via grapheneOS

Zapped back from side loaded Damus. GrapheneOS is freaking awesome though.

Speaking only anecdotally, it requires me to be far more deliberate and intentional to #zap, which I still do, but it’s tougher for sure. Still am a degen zapper on other clients but iPhone sucks.

My behaviour hasn't changed since zaps we're created. Damus walk back took the amounts down, for now

This explains my recent #zapathon experience
