If anyone has dog breeding advice drop below. My LGD is in heat and my in-laws have a burnese we want to use as a stud. Both dogs around 2 years old.

I know we are violating the practice of bringing the dame to the stud, but we don't have a choice since she has to guard the sheep at night. He will at least be given a spot on our farm that is his for the 2 weeks we're thinking we need for this to happen.

I have personally taken my female to another of the same about 1.5 hrs away. We took care of it in a day.

The owners of the male had tried to bring him over to our place but she wasn’t receptive yet. So I waited a week or so and took her out to their place, we (both owners) stayed in a 20x20 corral of sorts for about 45mwith our dogs (mine on a leash in case she tried to bolt from the male during the second phase(she didn’t)).

Once they naturally separated we shook hands and said see ya in a few months.

Do you mean you kept her leashed and had the leash in hand when they were mating?

Yes, it was slack the entire time but I was concerned about her freaking out being her first time breeding. I really didn’t want him to mount and get stuck and her to tear off and really injure the male

got it, thanks
