i think the qty of distributions is a bigger issue than the qty DE's or WM's, as far as linux fragmentation goes.. ..but i have a bit of a limited viewpoint based off of mainly focusing on Debian.. ..i'm sure the fragmentation could [easily] be an issue for other users

Oh that reminds me.... Sway kept crashing on my AMD GPU system........upgraded to Trixie....hopefully fixed.

Debian Stable sure seems to have a lot of instability on the Desktop

Debian Stable has been rock solid on my machines.. ..but i bet that is based on me sticking with X11.. ..i'm guessing Wayland support on Debian is really hit or miss with the current Bookworm packages.. ..Trixie is still about a year away from [stable] release, so a lot can change between now and then.. ..i'm sure they will figure it out

I could potentially test i3 on a VM with LMDE upgrading the repos.
