Here is what happened.

Trump's post carefully gave him deniability and wiggle room.

Then, the DOJ filed this request for a protective order:

Really, you have to read it. The DOJ response is calm, measured, subtle, understated.

They didn't take the bait.

They were planning to ask for this protective order anyway. They are basically saying, "Your honor, this is who we are dealing with," but I the tone of the adult in the room.

They frame themselves as capable and the defendant as volatile, and this sets up for them to get more of their way later on. Or am I misunderstanding?
