It's an illusion to think that a miner that mines cheap transactions is doing anything good. By doing this, he has to not mine some transactions with higher fees, do it at a personal loss making it harder for everybody to figure out how to get transactions mined.
So people can put whatever shit they want in transactions ‘cause freedom and the network will adapt. But miners doing shit the way they want to, making coin but not as much as is possible, is an illusion? Sounds like one way to adapt. I’d be surprised to see a significant number of blocks mined this way, but it’s a valid reaction.
