I've been (barely) trying to learn to play guitar on and off for the last 20 years. Always struggled. The fingertip pain. String squeaks. Tinny unintended ringing. Barre chords? Forget it!
Somehow I never knew that lighter gauge strings were a thing! Looking forward to getting these strung. Hoping it makes things easier!
Have you tried lowering your action?
As in how high the strings sit above the frets? I wasn't aware that was an adjustment option.
That's definitely been a big part of my early struggles with my acoustic. Too much pressure to move the heavy strings and then too much distance to cover.
Yes, doing that will improve your experience bigly (if the action is too high). I’d recommend taking your guitar to a music shop for a setup, and tell them you want low action
