For years, I’ve made an effort to “see the other side.” I’ve read Marx, Keynes, books on anti-racism, and explored philosophies on altruism. But this year, I had a revelation: I’ve spent all this time trying to understand perspectives that, frankly, don’t care to understand mine.

When you try discussing opposing viewpoints with someone, it doesn’t matter how much effort you’ve put into understanding their side. They’ll still think they’re right, and you’ll still think you’re right.

I’ve realized that staying in my own echo chamber is not only less exhausting but also way more enjoyable.

Interesting.

I read much of the same for my own education and to better define my opposing position.( for my own clarification)

Then preceded to enjoy being around people I agree with.
