I doubt this ends well. From an outsider's perspective it seems like they need dumb labour for factories, especially if there's less migrant labour.
You need the uneducated because they cost less and I guess you got to start producing that locally because the borders are closed.
Why do laborers have to be uneducated?
Because they create real things and get virtual credits in exchange. A minimally educated person wouldn't tolerate that trade for long.
They're dismantling the Delaetment of Education and giving the power back to the states. It's not like they're blanket firing teachers. The Dept of Education is unconstitutional and never should've been created in the first place. Decentralize it and let the states decide what the best course of action is.
