Nothing is black and white, for me Monero is the only relevant Altcoin (as opposed to all the other shipcoins) BTC for store of value and unimportant transactions, Monero for private "cash-like" transactions, we just need a reliable swaps mechanism. Digital "Gold" and "silver", but the silver is more private 😅. I am aware of flaws in this idea but if we can figure out how to make it work with Monero as a "layer two" (yes I know that is spurious to say) I think it would be a bright future indeed.

Samurai guys where working on a reliable swaps mechanism before they got busted... coincidence?

For most of human history there has been more than one active natural currency, I don't believe Bitcoin will swallow everything, just all stores of value. There will always be other currencies. I still consider myself a Bitcoin Maxi as I dont hold Monero... but I have and would use it. "There is no second best! (Except maybe just a little bit Monero 😆)"

Come at me with your disagreements! 🤣 why am I wrong? What do I have right?

When I said unimportant transactions... I meant unimportant regarding privacy... if such a transaction exists 🤔

There is a GUI update to Bitcoin Core that would make the wallet a massive CoinJoin with everyone transacting on Bitcoin. You could use this to peg into the zcash sidechain, and have absolute privacy. Nobody would even know you WANT privacy. We will be getting this soon with CUSF.

This sounds very promising! Privacy by default is the only way to go! What is CUSF?

Indeed. It's not a zero sum game, you can have eggs multiple baskets. If you find utility on both, then you should use both.

Perfectly said!

Another point besides privacy that I REALLY LIKE on Monero is the ASIC mining resistance.

Lot's of folks (me included) just don't have $$$ to buy and run ASIC to mine Bitcoin BUT I do have access to cheap CPU and GPUs what allows me to mine some Monero instead buying it.

But unless you live somewhere with very cheap electricity, is it actually worth mining? At least where I live electricity is too high to justify mining even Monero.

Man... Financially, most likely it doesn't.

But when you factor the "just leave it running" factor plus "I'm creating and sharing value without no one knowing about" points, IMHO, it becames really attractive.

Also, I found plain messy to have to buy BTC to then exchange by Monero... I'm a "Simple is Always Better" type of person and because my background I find it easier to just turn on some hardware, snap a Linux distro and leave the thing running you know?

You can buy XMR directly with fiat. nostr:npub1g3mmegj7wvgvljv6uf9wlnh6g65etexw4l86nwgraw367gqpwl3qr7de8p or from the nostr:npub1j9qyxka5lck4tw50v7qfrs6gdwczz5ydt7ugqy6nhuva9p6dpy5q8rs2yg app among others

Thanks a lot for the pointers mate! Really appreciated! =))

Yes, it is an attractive idea! I bet it feels good to support the network. And if it's set and forget then why not 🤷🏻‍♂️😁
