The New York Agreement (NYA), also known as the Bitcoin Scaling Agreement or SegWit2x, was a proposal announced on May 23, 2017, by the Digital Currency Group during the Consensus 2017 conference in New York. It aimed to address Bitcoin’s scalability issues by compromising between two factions in the Bitcoin community: those favoring scaling through Segregated Witness (SegWit) and those advocating for larger block sizes.
