I've only been let go twice. The last time I laid into the hr lady, but I didn't scream or yell. Everyone I worked with was shocked, because I was one of the most useful people in the company.
I was once fired for not filling out my timecards on time.
When HR informed me of them letting me go, I accused my boss of "having it in for me" after he found out I wasn't gay and that the way looked at me made me feel uncomfortable.
I got 6 months severance.
Dang!!!
I don't blame you. What did you say?
I was a pizza delivery driver for a short while after walking away from my electrical business. I 2anted something low stress. We were super busy one day and my manager tried to get me to make a pizza. Nah bro. Seeya
Working for a corporate, technical and stressful/busy job. We had hired this useless new guy that I had to babysit on top of trying to juggle everything else. He was nice enough but incompetent for what was supposed to be a specialist job. One day I randomly found out he was earning 10k more than I was.
I immediately took my manager into a meeting room and just went off. "I have lines of people at my desk while I'm trying to deal with all this shit, this fucking guy can't even figure out how to plug a cable in and he's getting paid 10k more than I am?!" etc, etc.
She listened to me blow off steam for a solid 10 minutes or so then started laughing. I look at her and ask what's funny. "He's also getting paid more than I am".
That was it, it was then I decided I'm done with this shit. I walked out of that room and applied for a similar job at another company, considerably better pay and less stress. A couple of weeks later I was out the door. When I started the new job, I felt like I had gone on holiday. In hindsight, best thing I've done.
Had a job as an assistant manager in a servo, was asked in to fill in as manager in a location on the location 2hrs away for 3 weeks. I ran that store on my own (usually a manager and two assistants) for 3 months, before going back to my original workplace.
Later I was told they were transferring me back there and I said "as manager?", no assistant manager. Told them on the spot that is was effectively a pay cut, and slap in the face, and quit immediately, went travelling overseas.
My direct manager hated me and it was a deliberate act to screw me over, but head office was pissed as I was good at what I did, they attempted to lure me back without success. It was a pivotal moment as my life changed drastically for the better after that.
Dam dude!
