#1 fill out your about section so people know what you are into. Then use hastags on things you're interested in... Find others that post good content to follow. Once you start following people, go to their follow and followers tab to find similar people.

Also having a picture besides the stock one they give you helps. Doesn't have to be a Pic of you if you don't want, just change it to something else.

Not having a profile or picture you won't get many followers.
