There is a visceral, irrational level of fear the bureaucrats have toward Trump that reminds me of a child staring at a dark closet doorway in the middle of the night.

It has taken me a while to understand what this fear is, and what Trump actually represents to them. I think i’ve got it now, and its so simple. Trump represents the possibility that the People can still control the system if enough of them move in one direction. This is what they fear most. The People. If Trump didn’t have majority support, they would completely ignore him. The bureaucrats are absolutely terrified that the People might take over the system.

But they will never admit it openly, or even to themselves.

This is about the intelligence community and its secret control over the world since WWII. Trump represents a threat to them, particularly since they outright confronted and battled him since his 'drain the swamp' mantra. Regardless that he likely will do nothing, they still treat him as a threat to the established hidden partisan power structures both foreign and domestic.
