Taxes are income from the population, printing money creates inflation, where collecting money on already printed money doesn’t create inflation.

Furthermore, taxes reduce spending by the population which would otherwise contribute to price rises.

Yes, it’s a form of controlled spending, one hand gives and the other collects :)
