It's one of those honey pots where the glass lid is molded around the dipper stick, so it's not completely sealed. So these tiny flies could skip through the crack.

Very cool. Yes, mine has a silicone gasket that ensures a snug fit. Not much you can do except retrofit a silicone fitting at the opening, somehow. Hopefully it was a one-off.
