I hear you, but when I was working in cigars at a Davidoff boutique they would never carry them because they said the flavors they soak the tobacco in would ‘taint’ the other sticks in our humidor.
I never really had them, always defaulted to a short story from Fuente since they’re naturally sweet with the Cameroon wrapper and readily available now.
Drew estates cigars were a really great small size so you don’t need a full hour to devote to a stick. I prefer smaller (thinner ring gauge).
Love Davidoffs! Yeah, the Drew Estates can be a little too sweet at times. My absolute favorite is My Father Le Bijou 1922 but they get pricey. I'm still trying different kinds since I'm a novice at cigars.
Domestically, I like Millenium Blend, the dark wrappers, but only as a post-steak dinner scenario. They’re super smooth, more so with some age on them in a humidor.
Overall though, my favorite stick is a Partugas Series D #4

Happened completely by accident.
My first job out of college was at a cigar shop until I got into finance. Didn’t smoke much back then, but we were entitled to write off one stick per day.
I just kept them in a humidor and maintained it for the last couple of decades, and began going through it all when I turned 40.
It was well worth the wait 🥹
It makes me want to get a separate humidor and do the same, just stash the sticks I like away for decades!
There are no right answers to this, it comes down to personal taste, but if I’m being honest, I don’t think decades make it better, for 4-6 years is my sweet spot.
When you add time to cigars in a humidor, I find that the strength comes down substantially the longer you keep it there, but the depth and complexity intensifies. It’s no longer as full bodied, you could have it on an empty w/ coffee instead of after dinner
