⚡️🇫🇷 NEW - An amendment to evaluate the development of #Bitcoin mining in France has been submitted to the French National Assembly.
Drawn up in collaboration with ADAN.
"The purpose of this amendment is to objectivize, through an evaluation report submitted to Parliament, the conditions under which Bitcoin mining could be mobilized as a tool to serve the French power system.
At a time when France is seeking to optimize the management of its surplus electricity production - particularly of nuclear or renewable origin - Bitcoin mining offers unique technical features: it is highly flexible, can be activated on demand, can be located close to production sites, and has no impact on continuity of supply. These qualities make it a lever for absorbing energy surpluses, likely to limit negative prices on wholesale markets and relieve nuclear power plants by reducing modulation cycles, which are known to accelerate wear and tear on installations.
In addition, the controlled development of mining in France could enable the reconversion of disused sites, the recovery of waste heat for urban or industrial use, and the emergence of a national low-carbon mining industry, based on a largely decarbonized electricity mix. This assessment process will help inform future political choices, with a view to energy sovereignty, industrial innovation and grid resilience."
