I'm absolutely in favor of this but implementing it securely is a tough hurdle. It may not sound popular in the mainstream but, to do this properly, blockchain voting is the way to go.

We can do this with nostr.
Any social platform really “could” be a place to strengthen local communities (nextdoor?) but nostr (being owned by nobody) actually has the integrity to sustain such a role.
“Local first” is the future of social media, and also how we can win back our government.
