You must be in the high wind area like I am. I live way out in the country where the power goes out frequently sometimes for days. I am an electrician. I wired my electrical service so I can hook my portable generator to it and power my entire house. Last night I was out for around four hours. I just plugged in my portable generator and had full power. I recommend this. All you need to do is have an electrician install a interlock switch on your main panel and you just plug your generator to it when the power goes out.
