If the intent is to reflect on the principles men like Washington, Adams and Jefferson promoted, then it's probably worthwhile. If it is statist worship, burn the day down.

So the idea that we have rights from God not govt, that we shouldn't have a king, that we can rule ourselves, that there shouldn't be slavery, that the people should be able to own land and subdivide it at will are ideas that don't interest you? Our early presidents were the first people in history to fight for these ideas. They were better men than just about everyone else put together since then.
