I had a huawei a few years ago, a P20 it was durable for the price.
I'm eyeing the nothing 3a or 3a pro and the pixel 8 pro.
For the hardware and cameras the pixel is way better because it was a 1k$ phone in 2023.
I found an offer with a provider in France for 350€ 😯 so it's cheaper than nothing phone. I only have to get a plan there at 8€ per month, only 2€ more than my actual plan but with way more data, plus data is working everywhere in Europe.

I have a friend that has a Google and she is satisfied. We both are lovers of photography. She says it's good for portraits, and others. It has a good macro, but lacks depth of field. Not a good zoom.
Oh, and battery around 2 days.
Wow sounds good ! I've check few reviews and i think the pixel 8 pro is the best phone now if you can find it in sale under 500€. The extreme deal at 350€ with the provider i've mention earlier is already out of stock 🫠😅 i've set an alert if they restock.

Nice, i like the design of Nothing phone. But i'll check again if i can get the deal on the Pixel 8 pro for 349€ i don't think there is a better new phone at this price, it's almost x2 faster in performance than the CMF and have better cameras
I see on some reviews budget and mid Nothing phone are already slow and buggy at release, so it's not a good sign for the coming years, i like to keep the same phone for at least 3 years.
Maybe this OS make it better, it is lighter right ? What about the security updates on this alternative OS like this one or GrapheneOS ?

The best thing to do, is to do what you are comfortable with. I wouldn't pay too much attention to strangers online like me, but then again I would also never trust gogole to be even close to powerless over their own devices under any conditions.
Assess your threat model, weigh it against what you are ready to invest in terms of time and energy. You are already asking very good questions, so you are definitely on a good path from my pov.
