If we build a superior social network on nostr, then iOS and Android will be forced to provide whatever is needed to support it.

nostr has a critical mass at around 500,000 DAU’s because any client or app that you build thereafter can instantly port the traffic feed of 500,000 DAU’s.

Nostr dissolves the network effect. So why would anyone ever develop an app outside of nostr and start at 0 users?

At some point of maturity nostr is going to explode and legacy social media will just crater. It’s inevitable because the math is baked in.

You only have to build one nostr user base once, and every subsequent app/client ever developed can immediately tap into that user base.

Once VC realise this we will be showered with billions of dollars to build all kinds of great and stupid things.

Well said. Everything else is constantly reinventing the wheel, and it doesn’t have to be that way.

Need to think about attack vectors to make it anti-fragile.

The same thought bitcoiners think about state attacks on the bitcoin protocol.

Forget what the app stores thinks. They don’t care. What can nostr handle and how do we make it stronger against, digital IDs, relay and other state based attacks.

We don’t have much time to prepare imho

Yes, there’s an escape velocity for the number of relays.

There needs to be a way to stand up lots of relays quickly if required. Also load balancing / routing could maybe help and maybe something like CDN where response time is used.

The thing is you are never going to get 100.00% complete data you might get 99.68% or something and the harder you push towards completeness the more brittle the network is.

So maybe the network is brittle by default but under stress it becomes more ductile? More resilient.

I think nostr will be much more emergent and less designed than what we have today.
