Can't afford the rent and the food is the problem. We've lost a lot in the last four months and I would rather re-home them than have nowhere to go.

Take your shame elsewhere. I'm doing the best I can with the circumstances I've been dealt and sometimes that means making choices we otherwise wouldn't. It's not like I want to get rid of them.

I’m sorry the shit has hit the fan in your world and I don’t know your story. There’s no shame in a new loving home. It’s when the story ends, as it too often does, with cages, euthanasia, and/or I had no choice but to mercifully put them down…….

That's what I'm trying to avoid. Sometimes being a responsible owner means re-homing to a stable home. The last thing I want is to put them down. That I refuse to do.
