Well I disagree. Reactions on Nostr are more then just likes. They are expressions. If your client support custom emoji reactions (NIP-25) then you can also dislake or give any other emotion expression with that "like" button.
Likes are old tech.
Even if customizable, expression are still free. They could be a little better than simple likes, I give you that, but Iβd rather zap 1sat to express my agreement!
I used to think the same but not everyone was onboard. I adopt to the agreement and I realized they were right. Not all reactions should be worth something. Free "likes" are way too embeded in the society at the moment and we probably won't change that, ever. And especially newcomers shouldn't be forced to pay, even if it's just 1 sat. It sounds like hey come to this awesome community where you can spend your hard earned money π€

I agree in part with what you said. To me, a like is a shitcoin because in fiat-world it means nothing. No βactionβ is done to leave a like, only a βreactionβ.
Here, it can be different. As you said, expression can involve an action, and can be seen as an evolution of the simple like. For sure itβs a step forward!
And, of course, I donβt want to force anyone to do anything!
