Canada managed to seize Bitcoin donations sent to the Trucker Convoy.

If your government is sane, sure you can stay away of politics, but lately many governments are becoming extreme.

The Canadian government did not sized the Bitcoins from the truckers but it did frozen the bank accounts of the donors I believe and a % of the bitcoins donations sent through a third party.

Bitcoin is peer to peer and you can really hold it without any trusted party. But if you introduce a third party such as a payment provider or a custodial exchange you lose all the benefits of a permisionless and unstoppable money.

They bullied the exchanges, and confiscated the Bitcoin keys that were given by donors using paper keys.

They also froze bank accounts of small donors to the convoy.

A complete tyrannical move that Canadians haven’t forgotten, yet they re-elected the same party. Canada is in deep trouble.
