I think they’re referencing the time to fully clear. It does take days for a credit card charge to clear on your statement, and be able to pay it off, etc.

Doesn’t take that long from a practical perspective though.

You could make the same argument for lightning since you have to close the channel for it to “clear”, right?

I don’t think you have to close the channel. I think it clears once it’s been confirmed on chain, which takes a matter of hours.

But yes, the info graphic lacks a lot of detail and nuance. Lightning is no faster to the recipient than a visa charge. The vendor gets their money at the time of transaction, or later that day depending on how the vendor batches transactions.
