Wow that’s some story!

Can’t tell what Densitron does now, one of those corporate websites that doesn’t explain anything 😂

Evervision seems interesting. You should check out https://daylightcomputer.com/ - I want to get my hands on one but limited runs so far and they only ship to US & EU.

I heard the founders on a pod say they struggled with manufacturing because screen panels are usually done in massive runs so it’s hard to bring new tech to market, but they seem to have something there.

What leading edge tech are you focussed on?

Yes, I discussed a couple of nuanced items about their product with them, but they didn't know my background, so didn't take my comments seriously.

I used a technical term that non display normies wouldn't know, but they didn't get the subtle hint.

Densitron still does LCD displays, they just try to add value to the core product because they no longer manufacture them since we were ousted, they sold off their manufacturing companies because they didn't understand how to run them.

Densitron was only taken over because we owned a sports ground in Blackheath (the old Nat West ground), which we used for company sports events.

They thought it could be worth hundreds of millions if developed, but they didn't know we had put a covenant on it preventing development for 999 years 😂

Think I heard it on nostr:npub1guh5grefa7vkay4ps6udxg8lrqxg2kgr3qh9n4gduxut64nfxq0q9y6hjy

Podcast, he is in VC so might have the smarts to get them re-engaged with someone worth knowing.

Nice job on the covenant 👍 We as a society need more of that else the strip mining will never stop whilst we’re stuck on fiat, all the incentives point to big capital doing more of that to chase growth at all costs regardless of what it does to communities.

If you’re in Aus or SE Asia hit me up, would love to buy you a beer and hear more stories!

We’re booking a world cruise for 2027, so will be in Oz then, if not before.

We both have family there and Densitron had offices in Crows Nest, Port Macquarie. We even sponsored Aussie NASCAR in the late 90’s. You would have seen Densitron’s logo all over the place.

By “Aussie NASCAR” you mean V8 Supercars I take it. Which team did Densitron sponsor and/or who was driving?

I think it was the whole series. We didn't know, we gave the MD of Densitron Auustralia a large marketing budget because you were about to host the Olympics.

He decided to spend it sponsoring NASCAR, we never knew until a UK newspaper wrote an article about it.

There used to be a lot to google about it, but there is not so much now, I found this text:

"Tomas mezera's densitron Commodore when he painted it brown was a shocker i though , looked much better when it was white."

On this old forum:

You sponsored a Bathurst 1000 winner..

Im not big of Aussie Motorsport but that’s the pinnacle here. That’s our Monaco.

To be fair to your Aussie Densitron MD, sponsoring the Olympics was probably out of budget even with what you gave him. Sydney was the second games where it was just multinational sponsors after the yanks did it with Atlanta. Then the IOC and FIFA started running the same playbook.

So it wasn’t the worst call but that was also the peak of Australian sport.

We had Pat Rafter winning majors in tennis. Dominated cricket and won the 1999 WC. Mick Doohan dominating in MotoGP. Golfers winning. The Wallabies were actually good. Luc Longley was starting Centre on the Chicago Bulls second threepeat then Andrew Gaze won with Spurs in 99. Occy won surfing WC. Oh and of course the Adelaide Crows were winning in AFL which made it feel even better 😂

Hard to find a good cheap sport to sponsor back then. We were winning everything.

2 years ago you could have put your logo on Oscar Piastri’s helmet for 20k Dollarydoos - opportunities like that are rare.

Your MD did well to back a proven winner at Bathurst.

Enjoy:

Shit, I never knew that.

We thought he just wasted it 😂

I’m Facebook friends with the MD, I’m messaging him now 😂

Your MD backed him when he went independent and likely wasn’t going to win, but they would have still covered him on TV as a previous winner.

This sort of thing makes me wish my Dad was still alive to tell.

He would have enjoyed knowing that 😁

No doubt that would make it much sweeter

But consider the gift to you to learn the impact he had in his time on this planet which you didn’t even know - most people aren’t going to discover such monumental things their dad did like this, years later.

That is in itself pretty special.

Today has been a good day.

Ironically nostr:npub1guh5grefa7vkay4ps6udxg8lrqxg2kgr3qh9n4gduxut64nfxq0q9y6hjy company TFTC.io stands for

Truth for the Commoner, but it is also an acronym for Thin Film Transistor which is the technology my father backed which is used in all LCDs today.

It made large screen LCDs possible by etching a transistor on every RGB pixel, making the pixel much clearer than trying to multiplex, or scan through rows of pixels like a CRT used to do.

Small world.

Thank you Mike. I am now that much smarter or at least can seem that much smarter.

You're going to be so popular at parties now 😂

Mike. We both know I don't get invited to parties. 😭

You will now 😂

Just change your NOSTR name to Doug “I know how LCDs work” Wilson
