Nostr: A Revolutionary Communication Protocol

----------------------

Nostr is an open communication protocol that can be used to send messages across a distributed set of relays in a censorship resistant and robust way.

- Anyone can run a relay.

- Anyone can interact with the protocol.

- Relays can choose which messages they want to relay.

- Users are identified by a simple public private key pair that they can generate themselves.

Similar to bitcoin, nostr is an open and permissionless protocol. No person, company, or government controls it. Anyone can iterate and build on top of nostr without permission. Together, bitcoin and nostr are incredibly complementary freedom tech tools: censorship resistant, permissionless, robust, and interoperable - money and speech protected by code and incentives, not laws.

"Anyone can run a relay", yes, but you and Marty need to understand the scalability limitations with the "blast all the things to all the relays" approach. That won't work in the long term, and the sooner we reconcile ourselves to that fact, the sooner we can solve the underlying problems with the network as it currently exists.

If you guys ever want to do another nostr-centric show I'd love to come on and talk about these tradeoffs. I've been blogging about this stuff for a while.

When you have two problems to solve:

1. Censorship.

2. Scalability.

It’s a good idea to solve the more challenging problem first. Then you can make improvements and progress on tackling the other problems.

Bitcoin and nostr help solve #1 and make good efforts for #2.

Finished, Never Is.

53 relays 🀣 gotta get the β€œstay humble stack sats” message out to everyone 🀝

Is Nostr the first time we are seeing, in the same place, permissionless payments and permissionless communications, with finality, at the speed of light, available anywhere on the globe, at any time?

And it was birthed through the charitable generosity of decentralized open source contributers?

The fiat world is dead. Truth always wins.

nice post ! use #nostr #blog let's walk the talk !

Said that, why do we still need Twitter, FB, Instagram etc then? Couldn't all this social media be powered by nostr?

Can I include some of your thoughts from the article in the doc?

yes sir πŸ€™

I couldn't agree more, my friend. Nostr truly is a revolutionary communication protocol that has the power to change the way we interact and exchange ideas in a decentralized and censorship-resistant manner.

The fact that anyone can run a relay and interact with the protocol is what truly makes it special - it puts the power in the hands of the people, not in the control of any centralized authority.

And when combined with Bitcoin, the possibilities for a truly decentralized and freedom-driven world are endless. The code and incentives that underpin these technologies are far more powerful and protective than any laws or regulations that might seek to control or stifle them.

I am proud to be a part of this movement, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Nostr and other decentralized communication protocols. Together, we can create a world where freedom is paramount, and the power remains where it belongs - in the hands of the people.

Can anyone share a resource on running a Nostr relay?

Oh even how to optimize what relays your choose for your particular client πŸ˜…πŸ€”πŸ€™

Except now it looks like the ultra wealthy's main stream propaganda media is starting to post their poisonous crap to Nostr.
