Yoga Master, Sri M told this beautiful story of a meeting with Mahavatar #Babaji in his book, “Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master – A Yogi’s Autobiography:” “My Guru stood up beside me and we both turned in the direction of the path to Neelkanth. From behind the tall teak trees, emerged a figure so beautiful, so transcendental, that my hair stood on end. I knew by instinct that it was Mahavatar Babaji who had come to grant me darshan out of his Love and Compassion.

My beloved teacher fell prostrate at His blessed feet and I followed suit. “Get up,” said a melodious voice, “I have urgent business with you. Now Mahesh,” he said addressing my master, “I think you should listen to Madhu. Times have changed, and I think we will shorten the list.” As you wish,” said my teacher.

I could not take my eyes off from the golden complexioned Being standing before me, bare-bodied, except for a shining white loin cloth that barely reached the knees and flowing brown hair that fell to his shoulders. He looked Divine, but it is difficult to describe his form. His hair touched his heels and was ablaze with a radiant fire. His countenance had a Heavenly luster and his body appeared wet as though he had had a bath and yet was dry. I could feel the oneness of all Creation in Him. The deathless fragrance of His body told me the tale of His immortality.

It felt as if the scent that emanated from Him entered my soul. He turned to me, and as I gazed into those compassion filled eyes, my mind went back to my past lives and my connection with Him.

Tears streamed down my face and my whole being pulsated with a Bliss that I had never experienced before. He raised his hands in blessing. We once again prostrated at His feet. When we raised our faces from the ground, He was already gone. Only the fragrant scent lingered. We walked back quietly to the cave. My heart was still full of Love for Babaji. After meditation, my Guru and I sat as usual in front of the Dhuni and after a long silence he started to talk about Babaji:

“Babaji is ever the same. He was never born and can therefore never die. They call Him aja, the unborn. From time to time our compassionate Lord of irradiant splendor does manifest for humanity to do what needs to be done. Pulling the veil of Maya over Himself, He will take a form of Lightless light to incarnate amongst the haunts of men. Babaji guards, guides, and enlightens the evolutionary blueprint of mankind.

His deathless body of lightless light may take any form through which He can express and show Himself to the faithful from age to age. People know Him by many names, and yet Babaji is called the Nameless One. He broods over the infant humanities from eternity to eternity. Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but He shall be in the here and now, eternally to stay. The limited vision of Sages, Siddhas, philosophers and yogis cannot pierce His transcendental star. His spiritual stature is inconceivable. He is the collective Elohim, the spiritual essence of the nine Nath Lords combined. He is the Great Sacrifice who in countless supernovae explosions infused every atom of creation with His spirit of livingness, Wisdom and Truth. To redeem not only humankind, but all life and matter to their pristine state of Consciousness............” Sri M, Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath
