A guy I know voted for President Trump because he’s afraid of nuclear war. The incoming Secretary of Defenses highest military ranking is Major. Skip the fact that he’s a news personality. Service wise:

For scale, he isn’t a -

A General

A Lieutenant General

A Major General

A Brigadier General (that’s like a senior staff general)

A Colonel

A Lieutenant Colonel

He’s literally the lowest ranked officer you can be.

No a Major is not the lowest ranked officer you can be. Being of a higher rank does not necessarily mean someone will be a better Secretary of Defense.
