I was listening to a Gerald pollack podcast on 4th phase of water. He was discussing what makes something ordered or structured, and he said simply “it requires energy.” Although it doesn’t immediately connect all the dots, I like this as a way to think about proof of work. It’s the energy input that gives bitcoin a structure.
