I'm in a buttfuck nowhere Chinese city and the city's traffic lights are internet connected and tell your car's navigation system if the light is green, yellow, or red and how long the light is

interesting

That's Orwellian Fren

Not really, the lights are optimized for traffic and light lengths change depending on traffic levels.

The billions of cameras that use AI and facial recognition to track your every move is Orwellian.

Lights in the US already use infrared to turn when emergency vehicles come up to intersections. You could easily do the inverse without any privacy implications.

I have always thought about this.

Training cars with AI driving seems not really needed. to some extent yes, but no need to be increadibly smart like a human.

And with the same amount of money that costs to train the models, you can convert the traffic lights and traffic signs to be able to communicate with cars, and have cars talk to each other and you would technically not need an AI.

Why train an AI model to read traffic lights and get them wrong 3% of the time, if the traffic light can send a code to the car through directly.

💯 and that's 100 exactly how a lot of industrial automation works! Specially since that 3% error rate could lead to accidents.

interesting, pls keep posting this kind of stuff
