As I understand it, there was a small field ablaze in Lahaina town in the morning, but they had it 100% contained and were finishing it off.

Next the winds from a nearby hurricane kicked in and it picked up the fire and it was gone.

As one who's been there, it's easy to hyperventilate when you think you're about to burn to death. Pure adrenaline.
