I feel like a boomer using these tools. I have yet to hit a point where they improve my productivity substantially. maybe once it gets hooked up into direct file editing which I'm still trying to figure out

wow I just said "ls my home directory" and it worked. probably should be doing this with a local model xD

It plays well with ollama, and ppq.ai . and yes you should just run it in a git repo directory xD

Curious if you can get it to be useful, and definitely as a local model.

You will definitely enjoy aider, have a look and take it easy, the first time can look overwhelming but once you get the core concepts it really integrates well with dev env and git. I've only been testing it since the beginning of this week and I'm really starting to enjoy using it

I feel the same way. Like I'm missing something. Also, have you tried codebuff? It's the only one that has been remotely helpful so far.

I just paste things into chatgpt like a caveman

I recently did a proper test drive of the Cursor IDE, and came away convinced that this is definitely one of those huge tech shifts that you either ride with, or get left behind. Like “can you use computers” 30 years ago.

The main game changer where I see how it’s immediately useful is when the codebase you work with gets included in the context as a vectorized embedding. That’s when you can actually start getting really useful stuff out of it.

Cursor also has an agent mode now. Which I feel will grow on me eventually. An agent currently makes the most sense for me when it works in a tight environment, such as a particular project.

Though I can definitely see how a few years down the line your Mac is going to come with a built-in agent that will function as a full-blown personal assistant. At the very least.

Crazy.
