You don't need to STOP using the car, buying a new one is enough IF you combine it with attached caps in plastic bottles. You need to inform yourself.
Even better if you buy a couple of EVs from europe to also save the car makers and not only the climate, but please don't forget to accept the cookies while you are at it.
