#asknostr

Am I the only person feeling uncomfortable, that seemingly the whole nostr community is praising a convicetd criminal?

Only because he was doing one thing you support? Oversteering the institutionally legitimized conviction of one person.

Is this sentense of two times lifetime and 40years not maby a big call to action, that the US justice system would need a big reform?

1. Or is the US proud, that their state still kills people?

2. And those who go to prison need to go for decades.

3. And those who get out in many cases have more criminal energy then before.

Would it not ma be about time, to adobt human rights and get rid of the death penalty?

Adjust the prison sentence to some duration where one suffers, but still sees light at the end of the tunnel on how to life a meaningful live after it?

And a prison system, which puts its resources in cooperation. In ways to give a prisoner a life of dignity, with opportunity to establish good habits. Since any prisoner will be someones neighbor if all works well.

LOL! I'm not the only one questioning these guys too eh! But hey that's what freedom of speech looks like!

So you claim it is freedom of speech, when al repost the same phrases? It is maby the freedom to follow the masses, since one will not be judged for it. Or feels like this.

They are free to follow the masses just like we are free to question them following the masses.

Yes it is defnitly anyones freedom to formulate whatever phrase or repost whatever phrase. I do not question this freedom. It just baffels me how a rediculous prison sentence gets undone by a rediculous intervention (pardon of the president) which was may legit during monarchy

I'm not well informed on the matters, and probably would continue if I wasnt on Nostr. But it seems this is the buzz for the last 48 hours.

I think freedom of speech is highly overrated, freedom of thoughts fine, but this speech thing is just asking for a shitshow of opinion diarrhea. May be freedom of speech can also mean you don't have to speak your mind. Now I realise you'd need a society to actually care for you in that case, otherwise you need to keep fighting for yourself.

I do not think freedom of speech is overrated. It is important in my opinin. Since it sets the base of a free society.

But one does have to understend that freedom of speech is not a right, that includes being listened to.

I am not challenging the freedom to speak ones mind and not be presecuted, but I do challenge the need to be opiniated about everything, for what ever reason.

Agree

Yes, your the only one.

I didn't hear you crying when Biden commuted the sentences of death row victims or pardoned his scumbag tweaker of a son, or that poison-merchant Fauci, but a clever young man who made a website has your knickers in a twist?

*death row convicts

It is because there is no obligation to post about every thing that I dolnot like. But the pardon I just disagree even with the concept.

I think you have not informed yourself and this particular case, although I agree with you, lots of charges are needed, the USA DOJ is a corrupted snake pit

about Ross ,few facts FYI:

1. In prison since 2013

2. First-time offender

3. All non-violent convictions

4. Two life sentences + 40 years without parole

Ross Ulbricht is condemned to die in prison for creating an anonymous e-commerce website called Silk Road. An entrepreneur passionate about free markets and privacy, he was 26 when he made the site. He was never prosecuted for causing harm or bodily injury and no victim was named at trial.

but rapist, robbery with violence and even murder in some cases get lesser sentences and even the right to parole, this case was not only an over reach, it was a disgrace and the political motivation behind is IMO a mystery to be solved , hopefully one day we will know why the corrupted DOJ went after him so harsh

I don't trust governments. The FBI is obviously corrupt to the core and many agents involved in the case tried to get his money. The FBI was involved in keeping the Bidens out trouble, buried the Hunter Biden laptop.

1. The US military is basically glorified in the US.

2. Good luck fighting the private prison cartel. You do you.

3. QED. If you truly think that, I fail to see how you can think that people might change in prison, making imprisonment useless. What else should be done about convicted criminals then?

He was stuck in prison for 12 years already.

If you want to fight the death penalty, good luck with that. None of this has anything to do with Ross’ case.

In point 1 I am refering to the death penalty. 2 when there are cartels it means it is more obvious that reform is needed.

And in 3:

What is your take on the goal of a prison?

Mine is this: It is to take away the freedom of a person to go where she wants. This is a legitimate punishment for illegal acts.

And on the second part it is the duty of the prison to make sure a prisoner is fit for freedom after his sentence.

It is not much of a praise. The guy wrote a piece of software, I heard that is considered free speech in other cases.

Sentencing him to die in prison without the chance of parole seems a bit hard. Especially if you see rapists and/or murderer getting a second chance.

Satoshi wasn't a fan of Silk road using Bitcoin. But Ross and Satoshi shared the same intention, enabling personal freedom. So does #nostr , you should expect some form of admiration for Ross here.

Personal freedom has a high value, everyone fighting for it deserves a little time in the sun 😉
