It is... though most people here are generally fun seeking and warm and fuzzy. Trolls will come. They always do. And when they do, clients will give users to tools to mute them.

The interesting thing about the protocol vs client aspect of #Nostr, is that it essentially achieves what Elon was hypothesizing with gloves-off “Heavy Metal Twitter” vs “Easy Listening (cat video) Twitter”.

Right?

By that I mean you could have a no-holds-barred nostr client and a heavily moderated nostr client. The user chooses.

Exactly, content isn't hostage to a particular client / interface, the client competes for users based on presentation, moderation etc... find what fits you.

Yes, it’s about giving the user the choice instead of patronizing

I did not understand this...thanks

Exactly 🎯💯

From USENET in the mid90s on I have used muting tools. Any client of any platform of any worth has always had them. It's only recently the Empire of Government and Corporate Oligarchs have decided users are too stupid to be be trusted to use them.

/mockingly "Of no! Someone who chooses to use a platform when he doesn't have to and is too stupid to mute or block might get radicalized by 'disinformation' or traumatized by 'hate speech'!"
