I definitely think labels are better in almost every way

BitVM + NIP-32 fixes everything

It's interesting how Labels are just another way to do single-moderator Moderated Communities.

No, not single-moderator, dynamic moderator list.

I am not sure if it makes sense to show labels from authors that the user is not following. There could be a lot of spam labels from new keys.

In the same line, my Bitcoin label might be very different than yours. Unless there is some central training on what they are supposed to mean, I don't expect much consistency.

Exactly, so someone following both of us would get both sets of labels. This is how coracle's explore tab works. And yeah, there might be a difference in meaning (e.g. "spam" meaningtagged as spam vs about the topic of spam), but that's part of the subjectiveness of moderation

Well, that's not moderation. The equivalence here is to have 2 Moderated Communities called Bitcoin from separate users, each without any additional moderator. They might be completely different from one another.

The team behind a single Moderated Community maintains a single meaning of the feed they create.

In other words, the "moderation" of similar NIP-34 labels from different users must be done by the receiving client/user and not by an external team you trust.

I'm not sure I'm following, you do select which labels you pay attention to, but they are moderation opinions in themselves. So you can follow one pubkey or another, or both, and each is a different view of "moderation opinions", which is different from how nip 72 works

I agree. My point is that it doesn't make much sense to call a single-person opinion "moderation". We don't call Reposts moderation either. And there is no cohesive "moderation" in labels from a group of pubkeys. So, the word moderation loses its meaning.

Curation seems to be a better fit for a label-based organization. But curation implies assembling for an audience. So, it might not be what you want either, if this is just for personal use.

This is probably literally semantics, but an audience of self is also an audience, so I think “Curation” might even be accurate in this case?

Yes, moderation is just a type of curation that has a specific connotation

‘Cultivation’ refers to the process of selecting and assembling

components, but also to a process of growth or development in the

material itself that has characteristics that influence the development.

they will play their full power when being used with namespaces. Intentionally or not but we kind of have linked data now in nostr.
