A lot of what-about-tism going on in this thread.
I think most things are true to some degree, some definitely more than others.
I still think "screwed" is exaggerating in a big way. No turns have been made that cannot be undone. Some will have to escalate further before people come to their senses, others have already peaked.
I see nobody dying of hunger, or at least not more so than 50 years ago. Progress might not be as big as it was either, but these things come and go.
I am very well aware that things could escalate but if European history taught me anything is that no matter how far things escalated, it always bounced back better. Maybe a good crisis is overdue and we'll again have to see how to get through.
