Geopolitics is a bitch. They probably should have let Russia into NATO back in the 1990s. A CIA backed ruler in Venezuela prevents a China / Russia ally in the region. That's all I can think of. I still don't like any of this. Governments are bullshit.

Also governments suck generally. At least if they are all in the same alliance than they don't have anyone to send their people to kill or be killed.

Yes, it does. It's a bit smaller, and now the oligarchs run their fifedoms instead of the generals. But it's the same horrible place.
