This person lacks scientific understanding. The concept of long COVID as a consequence of the virus became apparent because of the widespread simultaneous infections. Any virus or infection can cause similar effects, but vaccines have reduced the scale of infections, preventing widespread cases or limiting them to smaller groups, making it more difficult to detect such long-term effects.
