Having to reset a Windows laptop thats only a year old, while my 10 year old MacBook Pro still performs like a champ. #winblows

You should give a try to Ubuntu Desktop. If you don't rely on Windows compatible only software and most of your things are online in a web browser, GNU/Linux is great and fast.
Hint: The MacOS operating system inside your Macbook is actually Unix base, which Linux was inspired from.
