So an open-sourced alternative Neuralink would be something you’d be interested in? 🤔
Discussion
I wouldn't even be interested in that, personally. Just having a chip in my brain alone would make me feel less human and autonomous
Maybe you’re better than me, I tend to think I do a lot of stuff that my remembering self would not be as happy about as my living self is. I could see something like this helping me get a better balance between the remembered and lived self.
Plus, imagine if you could record and play back experiences. Like playing with a child who later passed away.
Or sharing your feelings of being hurt with your oppressor, and vice versa so you can really feel what it’s like to be each other. Would war even be conceivable in such a world?
Part of the human experience is to forget. It's why intelligence can be a curse as much as it is a gift
Since I’m giving this thing magical abilities haha, why not the ability to erase what you want to 😁
I'd rather let nature run its course and let God decide what I should forget
Yeah, I guess I have a hard time believing that God is choosing which memories I forget and which ones I keep, but if I did believe that I would 100% be with you there
I might add, as an adjacent point, that an open-source neurolink implant would probably still be vulnerable to bad actors, no? Biblical arguments aside, I'm not so sure I would trust that my brain couldn't be hacked 🫠
Yeah I mean if there were a chance that I could be turned into a controlled zombie I wouldn’t do it.
The mark of the beast thing - it seems like people avoid tons of stuff worrying that it might be that. I’d like a lower false positive rate. Especially when some of the things could be immensely beneficial. I suspect people wouldn’t avoid it if it’s been safely used for years. Like cochlear implants maybe. As long as you don’t worship the beast, it’s not the mark, right?
I, personally, have many reasons for being hesitant to put a chip in my person haha. Mark of the beast is not one of them. I'm not of the persuasion that the mark of the beast is talking about some future technology implemented by Antichrist. I'm not even of the persuasion that it has application beyond 70AD (though arguments of "double fulfillment are interesting). I wrote about this on a different post and I'll repost it here:
"[This perspective] arises from an erroneous eschatological reading of Revelation. Buying and selling, as well as the larger theme of being marked, is used throughout Revelation in connection with worship (v. 3:18, 5:9–10, 7:3–4, 13:16–17, 18:11–13). The mark of the beast is contrasted by the seal of God on the forehead. There is a lot more here to unpack but ultimately it is all making a spiritual point rather than painting a doomer end times situation."
Totally! Maybe neuralink open sources the firmware / software and people get into uploading forks
