Explain pl ! .. what is the difference between decentralisation and diversification ? .. I guess we are hitting the fundamentals 😊
Discussion
U decentralize something to protect that something from becoming centralized which would reduce or eliminate that things value.
Ex. If u want the world to know that Satosha is a great person, you would tell as many different people “Satosha is a great person. “
If you only tell one person, I can just find and kill that person and no one would ever know Satosha was a great person.
You diversify when you would rather have something than nothing but you are ok with having less than if you didn’t diversify.
If you were betting on 100M dash and Usain Bolt was in the race against 7 old men , you would put all ur money on Bolt. If it was 8 random old men only you might spread ur money around on 6 of the 8. If one of the 6 wins , at least u get something. If u put it all on runner 1 and he wins you would have gotten more. But then there’s a 7/8 chance u get nothing.
That is a great point .. but doesn't it mean a pre existing knowledge of future .. means you already have complete data about Usain Bolt and you can fully preempt the future .. may be , in case of Usain , you can but who knows he wouldn't have cramps right at the first step of race .. still it is a good probabilistic decesion .. I give you that ..
But in reality , we neither have complete knowledge of past , nor a good enough probabilistic model to predic future .. if one claims to have such a model .. it is literally called blind faith ..
That is the reason diversification is a great strategy .. because perfect knowledge doesn't exist ..
Besides - the goal is never to maximize wealth .. goal is to survive as long as possible .. because in this world - survivor always wins ! ..
IMHO the math is 100% certain that Fiat collapses and everything that isn’t ₿ is Fiat. Even if ₿ only has a 1% chance , I would still rather be 100% ₿.
